EVERMAN - Stephenville continued its winning ways in Everman Tuesday, winning 3-1 over the Bulldogs to stretch their winning streak to five matches in District 8-4A.
The win secured second-place finish in district for the Bees. Aledo has wrapped up the title, while Cleburne and Joshua are fighting for the third spot.
The Honeybees built a commanding two-set lead against Everman, and appeared to be on their way to another routine sweep.
Everman jumped ahead in game three and was able to hold off a rally by the Bees to become only the third team in district action to win a set against the Bees. Aledo and Cleburne are the other two.
“We came from well behind, but it wasn't enough,” Stephenville Coach Fran Metzger said.
The Bees put their game faces back on for game four, a quick 25-4 Stephenville win.
“We didn't make as many errors, and MaKayla Elliott served it out with a big run,” Metzger said.
The Honeybees complete district action Friday when they host Cleburne.
Stephenville has defeated the Lady Jackets twice this fall. They met in non-district tournament action and again in the first round of district play.
