ALVARADO - Stephenville disposed of Alvarado in three quick sets here Tuesday, winning 25-23, 25-14 and 25-20.
MaKayla Elliott led the way for the Honeybees, tallying nine kills at the net. Hilde Talsma was second with seven, while Claire Goodman chipped in with six. The Bees offense was also highlighted by four aces.
Sage Lasater led the defensive effort with nine digs.
The first set of the match was much closer than Stephenville Head Coach Fran Metzger felt it should have been.
“We were a little flat,” Metzger said. “We made a lot of unforced errors.”
After allowing AHS to hang close in the first battle, the Bees were not as kind to their host in the second match.
“We quit making so many errors and played well,” Metzger said of the dominant game two performance by SHS.
The game three win completed the sweep for Stephenville, which improved to 12-9 overall and 2-1 in District 6-4A play with the win.
The Honeybees continue district action Friday in Crowley.
