E-T Staff Report
The upcoming start of the 2009-10 school year means the return of junior high athletics, which in turn means its time for Henderson JH girls to be issued sports equipment, meet coaches and check out schedules.
Equipment pickup for seventh and eighth grade girls is set for today in the Henderson Junior High athletic hallway on the south side of the campus (the side nearest to Wal-Mart). Eighth graders will be issued equipment from 5:30-6:15 p.m., followed by seventh graders from 6:15-7:30 p.m. Athletes unable to pick up equipment at this time may have someone pick it up for them or wait until the first day of school.
All paperwork is also due at this time, including the green physical folder and acknowledgment of athletic rules. All seventh grade participants must have proof of physical examination, while physicals for eighth graders are required only if the student-at hlete sustained a major injury during the last year. No athlete will be allowed to practice or compete until meeting the physical exam requirements.
Seventh graders will receive one free shirt, with additional shirts costing $8. Stephenville Sports World will be selling knee pads which will be necessary for all volleyball players on the first day of school. The Stephenville Athletic Booster Club will also be selling bags, shirts and additional Honeybee attire.
The first volleyball practice is Monday from 3:45-6:15 p.m.
Meet the Coach Night is set for Aug. 25 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Henderson gymnasium. All members of the coaching and athletic training staff will be on hand and the Quad County District sportsmanship creed will be discussed, as well as Stephenville ISD policies and rules, practice and game schedules, travel regulations and much more.
Quad County District schedules, standings, maps and directions can be found on the Web at quickscores.com/quadcounty. Non-district events are not included on the site. Information for these events will be provided during the season.
