Cross Timbers area prep teams prepare for final

regular season games with plenty still on the line

E-T Staff Report

Plenty of teams with plenty to play for.

That's the situation surrounding high school football in the Cross Timbers Area this weekend.

Six area teams are playing in contests with playoff implications Friday, with all games kicking off at 7:30 p.m.

No. 1 Stephenville visits No. 8 Everman for the outright district title in District 8-4A, a match-up that seems be everyone's game of the week.

Exactly who the Stephenville opponent will be in the bi-district round of the state playoffs is still up in the air, but it is clear that a win Friday would meani steering clear of a rematch with No. 6 Wichita Falls Rider until the regional final.

Hico has a chance at a co-championship in 11-2A, while Dublin needs to defeat Itasca by 10 to qualify for the playoffs.

Gorman and Tolar meet in the District 12-A championship game in Tolar Friday, while De Leon, Gordon and Strawn all have playoff implications surrounding their regular season finales as well.
