Tarleton State TexAnn volleyball head coach Mary Domine Schindler has announced the signing of Catherine Cutbirth to a national letter-of-intent.
Cutbirth, a 5-9 outside hitter, will graduate from Monahans High School before heading to Tarleton for the 2007 season.
“Catherine is another very athletic student athlete who has competed in several sports for Monahans High School,” Schindler said.
“She participated in swimming, basketball, volleyball and softball. She was a member of a state championship team her sophomore year and was state runner-up her junior season. As a senior, Catherine led her team to the regional finals.
“Catherine is a tremendous student-athlete who will bring great character and leadership to the TexAnns. We are very pleased to have Catherine as the newest member of the TexAnn roster.”
Cutbirth was named first team All-District 2-3A in 2004, 2005 and 2006 in addition to being named the district’s Most Valuable Player in 2006. She was also on the all-region tournament team in 2004 and 2006. The newest TexAnn was a member of the 2006 all-state team as well.
In 2005, she was named first team All-Permian Basin as a middle blocker/outside hitter. She was a TSWA Class 3A all-state honorable mention selection in 2005 and second team selection in 2006. In 2005, she was picked to the all-state tournament team as a junior.
Cutbirth was named a San Angelo Standard Times All-West Texas First Team member in 2005 and was the Outstanding Hitter in 2006. She was also selected as a Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star in 2006.
