Ten members of Stephenville High School’s girls powerlifting team have qualified for the regional meet, which is scheduled for March 7 at Del Valle High School near Austin.

The Honeybees who qualified are Dominika Roman, Daisy Leija, Amiah Rodriguez, Lila Richards, Jessica Leija, Esmeralda Alonso, Maddie Durant, Arianna Rosati-Floyd, Aubreyanna Zeigler and Norma Hernandez.

Those names were announced after they competed at their recent meet at Hamilton High School, where Rodriguez won her weight class by lifting a total of 610 pounds. The Bees placed second in the girls team standings behind Copperas Cove.

Durant and Hernandez placed second in their respective divisions at Hamilton. Jessica Leija earned third place at that meet.

In the boys division at Hamilton, SHS finished third behind San Saba and Comanche.

Ruben Reyes won his weight class for the Yellow Jackets, while Gabe Juarezand Logan Davis each placed second in their respective categories. Colton Accomazzo had a third-place finish.

The boys regional qualifiers won’t be known until early next week.
