The state-ranked Stephenville High School Yellow Jackets suffered a 2-1 non-district boys soccer loss to Fort Worth Western Hills Friday on the road.

Jorge Gallegos recorded Stephenville’s lone goal, unassisted.

SHS head coach Taylor Smith said the Yellow Jackets are still playing without the injured Parker Plaxco and Cody Miller, but are “healthy everywhere else.”

The Jackets took a 1-0 lead early on the goal by Gallegos. But after Western Hills tied at 1-all, the game remained tied until the Cougars picked up the winning goal with about five minutes remaining in the contest.

Stephenville’s boys are now 7-4-2 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to play at home at Lem Brock Field on Tuesday (Jan. 28) against Abilene Cooper (varsity at 7 p.m.). They won’t play again until Monday, Feb. 3, at home against San Angelo Lake View.
