Stephenville High School senior standout Jayci Morton was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class 4A all-state volleyball team for the 2018 season. Morton, a 5-10 outside hitter and middle blocker for the Honeybees, earned first-team all-District 7-4A honors for the second year in a row following her senior season, when she helped lead the Honeybees to 29-18 season record in their first season under head coach Shay Douglas.

The Honeybees were ranked 20th in the state when they were eliminated by 10th-ranked Decatur in the third round of the volleyball playoffs. Morton led the Honeybee volleyball team in kills (260), and was second in both blocked shots (23) and digs.

"I'm very proud of Jayci," Douglas said. "Her hard work paid off. She continued to fight through a nagging injury all season and did not let that effect her performance on the court. She is a very tough kid and deserves every bit of this award."

Morton, also a starter and standout for the SHS varsity basketball team, recently signed a letter-of-intent to play that sport for Tarleton State University. As a sophomore, Morton picked up all-state and all-region honors in basketball.
