The Stephenville Yellow Jackets opened their boys varsity basketball regular-season schedule on Saturday with a 60-29 home loss to Class 5A Abilene Cooper.

Skylar Stilwell led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 16 points. Grayson Traweek and Mason Castleberry contributed six and five rebounds, respectively, for SHS.

The Jackets are scheduled to play Tuesday night (Nov. 13) at Lipan, with the varsity contest set for a 6:15 tipoff. Lipan’s Indians (1-0) are the two-time defending state champions in Class A.

Friday’s SHS varsity girls game against Lorena that had been scheduled to be played in Lorena has been moved to Granbury (5 p.m.), SHS Athletic Director Jerod Womack announced on Monday. The Honeybees’ game site was changed because Granbury’s Pirate Stadium will be the location of the first-round SHS football playoff game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Womack said the football playoff game ticket holders can use those tickets to get into the basketball game that day.

Also from Womack:

“You can purchase your playoff football ticket either at the school during pre-ticket sales or at the basketball game that night. If you plan on attending the basketball game only tickets will be $3 for adult and $2 for students. Please note that Granbury ISD will be releasing school between 4:20 and 4:45. No entrance into the parking lot will be allowed until after 4:45. Please plan on arriving for the basketball game after 4:45.”
