Stephenville High School’s varsity boys basketball coach Bill Brooks (pictured during a game last season) will lead his Yellow Jackets into their first preseason action this Saturday, Nov. 3, at home with scrimmages against Weatherford and Benbrook, starting at 10 a.m. in Gandy Gym. Their first game of the regular season will be Saturday, Nov. 10, at home against Abilene Cooper (2 p.m.). Coach Alan Thorpe’s Honeybees got started last Saturday at Azle, taking on Class 5A Byron Nelson, Class 4A Sanger and Class 5A Azle, each in 20-minute timed segments. The Honeybees, who were missing four of their varsity girls for various reasons, were outscored by Byron Nelson 16-14 and Sanger 20-19, then defeated Azle, 30-10. The first regular-season game for the Honeybees is set for Nov. 6 at Millsap (varsity at 6:30 p.m.).
