Tarleton volleyball has tied a school record for highest ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, coming in at No. 11 this week.
Tarleton was ranked No. 11 last season during the week of October 23. It's the highest ranking for Tarleton this season, with the previous high being last week's No. 13 rank. This is the tenth week of national voting and Tarleton's previous highs were No. 15, 17, No. 18 and as low as No. 24, while always remaining ranked this year.
Tarleton is one of two Lone Star Conference schools in the top 25, joining Texas A&M-Commerce who remains No. 21 in the poll. Angelo State is also receiving votes in the poll. Tarleton has been ranked in every poll since the final ranking of the 2016 season, which is 24 consecutive weeks in the national spotlight.
Tarleton went 3-0 last week with three sweeps, earning a road victory over Angelo State and home wins over Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M. Tarleton has won a school-record 20 straight matches with 16 of its wins resulting in a sweep. Tarleton is currently alone at the top of the LSC standings with a 23-2 record and an 15-0 mark in league play. The TexAnns have a three-game lead over Texas A&M-Commerce - who they swept the season series with - with a 12-3 record.
Tarleton will play three matches this week - one on the road and two at home. This week's games can secure a Lone Star Conference Championship for the TexAnns. Tarleton will travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday, Oct. 23 for a 7 p.m. match. They'll return home for senior weekend to take on MSU Texas on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. and Cameron on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. A win against Texas A&M-Kingsville and MSU Texas will clinch a share of the LSC title and a win Saturday against Cameron would be an outright title.
