After setting a new school record for consecutive victories and winning a pair of conference road matches, Tarleton Volleyball now has a season-best No. 13 national ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
It's the highest ranking for Tarleton this season, with the previous high being last week's No. 15 rank. This is the ninth week of national voting and Tarleton's previous highs were No. 17, No. 18 and as low as No. 24, while always remaining ranked this year. Tarleton's highest ranking in the AVCA poll came last season when they were ranked No. 11.
Tarleton is one of two Lone Star Conference schools in the top 25, joining Texas A&M-Commerce who remains No. 22 in the poll. Angelo State is also receiving votes in the poll. Tarleton has been ranked in every poll since the final ranking of the 2016 season, which is 24 consecutive weeks in the national spotlight.
Tarleton went 2-0 last weekend, earning road victories over No. 22 Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's. Tarleton has won a school-record 17 straight matches with 13 of its wins resulting in a sweep. Tarleton is currently alone at the top of the LSC standings with a 20-2 record and an 12-0 mark in league play. The TexAnns have a three-game lead over Texas A&M-Commerce and Angelo State in the LSC standings with both teams tied for second at 10-3.
