The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recognized 75 NCAA Division II softball teams and over 6,000 student-athletes for their efforts on and off the diamond last spring and Tarleton boasted the No. 24 Easton/NFCA Academic Team.
"This is an honor that I'm especially happy with," said head coach Mark Cumpian. "The way that team handled their business on and off the field was incredible. I'm glad they're receiving the recognition they deserve for all the hard work they put in."
Tarleton boasted a team grade point average of 3.552, which was No. 24 in the nation by Easton/NFCA and No. 1 among Lone Star Conference programs.
In addition to the team honor, Tarleton had 13 players honored as Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of higher than 3.50.
The following TexAnn players were named Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes: Emilie Blair, Georgia Capell, Destiny Crumpley, Megan Durante, Lexi Grimaldo, Tanna Huie, Kadyn Kirkpatrick, Morgan Ling, Karlie Milburn, Sami Shaffer, Jordan Withrow, Nyka Wood, and Meghann Wrinkle.
Tarleton set a school record last spring with 50 wins and advanced to the second NCAA regional championship game in program history.
