Jayci Morton is a 5-10 senior outside hitter in her fourth year as a member of the Stephenville Honeybees varsity volleyball squad.

Morton earned first-team all-district in volleyball for the 2017 season. She was voted by the district’s coaches as the Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.

In basketball, Morton is a standout small forward for the Honeybees. She also earned first-team all-district status as a junior. She was named as an academic all-district selection in basketball at the end of last season.

The E-T had a chance to catch up with Morton after a recent practice to ask a few questions. Here are her responses:

E-T: Which sport (volleyball and basketball) do you enjoy the most?

Jayci: “I enjoy them equally. For me, it’s kind of like whatever I’m playing is my favorite. It’s definitely been a fun year for volleyball.”

E-T: What do you enjoy the most about sports?

Jayci: “The competitiveness. It’s kind of in the moment. I get excited and I always want to win. It’s an adrenaline rush.”

E-T: What’s your favorite thing to do outside of school and sports?

Jayci: “I like to stay at home — hang out around the house and relax.”

E-T: Do you have plans for college?

Jayci: “I’m going to play basketball, either at ETBU (East Texas Baptist University in Marshall) or Tarleton.”

E-T: Have you decided on a major in college?

Jayci: “Pre-med. I want to be a physician’s assistant.”
