Stephenville High School varsity baseball coach Justin Swenson has been elected to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Region 2 baseball advisory committee.

Swenson was selected to the prestigious position on Tuesday in San Antonio during the THSCA’s annual coaching school, having only four seasons experience as a head coach. He was nominated by another coach from the region, and his coaching peers then voted on those who will be serving on the committee.

Swenson said committee members serve for one year. The committee can consider possible rule changes and other issues.

“Coaches in Region 2 will come to me with complaints and I will take them to the committee meetings,” Swenson said.

Swenson completed his fourth season as Yellow Jackets’ head coach this spring, finishing with a 16-15-2 season record.

The Yellow Jackets made the playoffs as the third-place team in District 8-4A, and reached the area round of the 2017 playoffs before being eliminated by Iowa Park, 2-1 in their best-of-three series in Abilene.

Swenson will be seeking a fifth consecutive playoff berth when the 2019 season rolls around.
