WICHITA FALLS - Tarleton scored five unanswered runs to turn a one-run deficit into a four-run victory to cap off a three-game sweep of Midwestern State Sunday afternoon.

"This was a very good team win for us," said head coach Mark Cumpian. "Kadyn Kirkpatrick and Amanda Conner came off the bench and did a great job with key at bats late in the ballgame to extend the lead and give us some breathing room. Megan Rosewell came out of the bullpen and was huge for us. Today was a great example of what makes this team so special and I couldn't be more proud of their effort today."

Tarleton got the scoring started early when Karli Herron cashed in with two outs in the first inning on a single into right field that plated Meghann Wrinkle and Nyka Wood for a 2-0 TexAnn lead. The lead wouldn't hold up as Midwestern State answered with a three spot in the bottom of the first.

Two innings later, Tarleton tied things up when Maddie Quintanarcoaxed a bases-loaded walk to bring home Megan Durante with two away. Midwestern State responded once again, however, with a solo home run in their half of the third to take a 4-3 lead after three.

Wood and Durante started the rally for Tarleton with a one-out walk and double in the fourth before Tanna Huie drove them in with a two-RBI double to left-center that gave the TexAnns a 5-4 lead. Two innings later, Huie stayed hot at the plate with a leadoff home run to start a three-run sixth inning. Amanda Conner added a pinch-hit two-run homer later in the frame to extend the lead out to 8-4, which would hold up over the final inning and a half.

Jordan Withrow started the game and went the first three innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out one. She gave way to Megan Rosewell, who pitched the final four shutout innings to earn her 15th win of the season.

Tarleton will return home for the final series of the regular season next weekend when the TexAnns host UT Permian Basin on Senior Weekend in Stephenville.
