The postseason accolades continue to pour in for the Tarleton TexAnns as Mackenzie Hailey and Katie Websterwere named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention team.
"I am extremely proud of both of these young ladies," said head coach Misty Wilson. "It is a great honor for Mackenzie and Katie to be recognized by the WBCA for their contributions to our season. They were both pillars for our team this year and did a great job of representing Tarleton on and off the floor. I look forward to having them back next season and seeing how they will continue to improve as players and as individuals."
Hailey, who was recently named a D2CCA All-Region Second Team selection for the second straight year, was a star for the TexAnns as a sophomore and led the TexAnns to their eighth NCAA regional tournament appearance and second straight appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament championship game. Due to an injury suffered in the LSC title game, however, Hailey was unable to compete in the regional tournament.
She averaged 14.5 points and grabbed 7.2 rebounds per game in 31 games for Tarleton this season. For the year, Hailey scored 448 points, grabbed 222 rebounds, and shot .446 from the field on 157-of-352 shooting.
In addition to her all-region accolades, Hailey was named an All-Lone Star Conference first team and an All-LSC defensive team selection. She also won two LSC Defensive Player of the Week awards. This is her second career regional award after earning second team honors last season as well.
Webster was an LSC All-Tournament and All-LSC Third Team honoree for Tarleton in her debut season for the purple and white while helping lead the TexAnns to the NCAA postseason for the eighth time in school history and LSC Tournament Championship game.
She averaged 12.9 points and grabbed 6.3 rebounds per game in 32 games for Tarleton this year. For the season, Webster scored 413 points, grabbed 201 rebounds and shot .452 from the floor and .784 from the free throw line. Webster and Hailey both amassed 400 points and 200 rebounds for the TexAnns this season.
