Tarleton women's basketball fell two spots to No. 10 in the second South Central Regional poll.

The TexAnns are 17-9 overall and in fifth place in the Lone Star Conference with an 11-7 record. The TexAnns are 16-9 this season against NCAA Division II teams and also have a 16-9 in-region record.

The Lone Star Conference makes up four of the 10 teams in the regional poll, led by West Texas A&M at No. 2, Angelo State at No. 4, and Eastern New Mexico at No. 9.

Lubbock Christian, who is the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, is the top seed in the South Central Region. Arkansas-Fort Smith is the other Heartland Conference representative, coming in at No. 6.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference makes up the final four teams: Colorado State-Pueblo (3), Metro State (5), Black Hills State (7), and Fort Lewis (8).

The TexAnns have defeated three of the 10 regionally ranked teams this season, coming up with wins against Arkansas-Fort Smith, Angelo State and West Texas A&M.

The TexAnns have qualified for seven NCAA regional tournaments, including last season where they won the Lone Star Conference tournament to earn an automatic bid into the tournament.

There will be one more poll before the 64 teams are selected to compete for a National Championship. The NCAA South Central regional tournament will consist of the tournament champions of the Lone Star, Rocky Mountain Athletic and Heartland conferences as well as five at-large teams. The top seed in the region will be the tournament host.

Tarleton has two games remaining in the regular season - all at home this week - starting with UT Permian Basin on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. The TexAnns will host West Texas A&M for senior night on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m.
