Two of the biggest Texas High School football magazines have now been released and both Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Friday Night Football have predicted the Stephenville Yellow Jackets to once again post a solid season.

After realignment earlier this spring, Stephenville won’t see any changes in district 3-4A Division I as they are once again joined by Abilene Wylie, Brownwood, Snyder and Big Spring.

Both Friday Night Football and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football have predicted the district championship to stay in Abilene at Wylie. After the Bulldogs, both magazines predict Brownwood to finish as runners-up followed by Stephenville, then Snyder and Big Spring rounding things out.

The predictions are almost a mirror of last year’s final standings, but with the predictions flip-flopping Stephenville and Snyder, who finished fourth and third last season.

According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Stephenville is returning three starters on offense and six on the defensive side of the ball.

One trend did break for Stephenville in this year’s football magazines. For the first time since their drop from current 5A to now 4A back in 2012, the Yellow Jackets do not find themselves in the pre-season rankings.

The top five teams in this year’s class 4A Division I according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, include, Argyle, Navasota, Carthage, Liberty-Eylau and district rival Abilene Wylie, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets begin their season on Aug. 26 when they travel to take on Cleburne.
