All residents of Stephenville, ages 17 years and older, are invited to travel with a coalition of city and university leaders to the state capitol on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

The purpose of the trip is to meet with our elected officials during the 85th Legislative Session. A chartered bus will leave west side parking lot at Memorial Stadium at 5:45 a.m. and return at approximately 6:30 p.m. There is no cost for the event but reservations are required. Stephenville/Tarleton State Day at the Capitol is a cooperative effort by Stephenville Economic Development Authority, the City of Stephenville, and Tarleton State University to unify and enhance our region’s image in Austin and to pursue issues and legislation beneficial to the Stephenville area.

Stephenville/Tarleton State Day at the Capitol will provide an opportunity for residents to meet Texas Senators and State Representatives while offering an up-close and personal look at the Texas Legislature in action.

Stephenville/Tarleton State Day at the Capitol includes introductions on the House & Senate floors, lunch, followed by meetings with staff from the Texas Water Development Board, Team Texas, Department of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism, department heads, state legislators, and other elected officials. The coalition is working closely with State Representative, Dr. J.D. Sheffield’s and State Senator Craig Estes’ staff to arrange the meetings.

Tentative schedule:

5:45 a.m. – Leave Memorial Stadium

9:15 a.m. – Arrive at capitol

10 a.m. - Attend House session

11 a.m. – Attend Senate session

Noon – Lunch at Capitol Grill

1:15 p.m. – Group meetings

2 p.m. – Member office visits

3 p.m. – Group photos at rotunda

3:30 p.m. – board bus

6:45 p.m. – Arrive at Memorial Stadium.
