Zachary Lind Irwin, 41, of De Leon, defeated cancer and all earthly ailments and met God face to face April 23, 2022. He peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 22, 1980, in Houston, Texas to Arthur “Artie” T. Irwin Jr. and Sharon “Cookie” Kay Redman Irwin.

Zach was a proud De Leon Bearcat Class of 2001. He loved his school and had many special lasting friendships with his classmates and teachers. He was a loyal Bearcat fan who loved cheering on all his high school teams. Zach attended Faith Lutheran Church of Stephenville. There he discovered and embraced his love of music. Music was a wonderful expression for Zach and helped him communicate his feelings. Zach spent much of his life with his loving friends and caretakers at The Rock House in Stephenville. His relationships with his caregivers there were so very special to Zach. As much as he loved them, Zach knew just how much they loved him. A special thank you to the loving staff at The Rock House for all their attentive care and genuine love for Zach over the years.

While home in De Leon, Zach loved to stand outside and wave at any passing company. With a huge smile and a quick wave, he showed kindness to all. He was especially fond of the family cat, Pepper. The two had a very special relationship. Zach was a bright light in this world and his kind soul will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. If anyone ever received the blessing of meeting Zach, he was sure to make an impression and leave a positive lasting impact on their lives. We praise a faithful Lord who has eternally healed Zach and made him whole.

He is survived by his devoted and loving mother, Sharon “Cookie” Irwin; loving sister, Melody Irwin; nephew, Anthony Rangel; niece, Harmony Hudson; aunts, Donna Irwin and husband, Tex Cornelison, Linda Cathey, Linda Schaa, and Mary Redman; uncles, Paul Irwin and wife, Pat, and Robert Irwin and wife, Marilyn; numerous cousins; and other extended family.

Zach has been reunited with his father, Artie Irwin; grandparents, Arthur Sr. and Gloria Irwin and William Billy and R. Marjorie Redman; and uncles, Bill Irwin, Peter Irwin, Dr. Rex Redman, Jim Schaa, and Kelly Hicks.

Services celebrating Zach’s life and his joyful soul will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rev. Kaiya Kershaw officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society at PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in honor of Zach. Condolences may be offered online at www.nowlinandersfh.com.
