Judy was born on July 12, 1954 in Ranger to Monica and Don Seward. She was raised in the Stephenville area, where she attended, played basketball for, and graduated from Huckabee. After graduating, she came to Gray County to meet up with a friend, while here she met John Perry Couts. They married three months later on June 2, 1973 in Gray County. Before coming to Pampa, she and John lived in Lefors for a brief time before moving back to Stephenville where they helped operate the family dairy after her father's passing. Judy and the family would return to Pampa, living ever since.

Judy was a hard-working Christian lady with a sweet, kind loving soul. She held various jobs over the years. One of her first jobs in Pampa was working as a janitor and school bus driver for Grandview Hopkins ISD. She later enrolled in secretarial school at Clarendon College Pampa Center. After graduating, she worked for Pantechs Laboratories and Wagner Well Service in Pampa. Later she and John opened ESP Well Services and started a family show pig business with John and her daughters. Eighteen years ago, she began working for Armstrong Coffee Service, where she serviced the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, and she was known as "Judy the Coffee Lady".

Judy loved animals, especially her horses and cats but her greatest love were her husband, daughters, and granddaughters. Everyone who knew her will forever miss her beautiful warm smile and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her survivors include her husband, John Perry Couts of the home; two daughters, Jenny Couts of White Deer, and Julie Chesher and husband Kevin of Mobeetie; six granddaughters, Ashton Standerfer and fiancée, Mason Styles of Pampa, Kaylee Chesher of Dozier, Erin Standerfer of Shamrock, Kamryn Chesher and Karmen Chesher, both of Mobeetie, and Addison Standerfer of White Deer; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pam Eakins and husband Kenneth of Stephenville, and Donna Stovall and husband Doug of Hico; and by numerous in-law's, cousins, other extended family, and friends who were family to Judy.
