STEPHENVILLE — Anita LaVerne Cisler, 81,  a loving wife and mother, went to be with our Lord, while surrounded by her children on Thursday, February 26, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Sharon Bryant officiating.

Anita was born on October 30, 1927 to the late Verrill and Irma (Anderson) Taber in Chicago, Illinois. She married Edwin H. Cisler on May 27, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. After having four children and surviving the blizzard of 1967, the family relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1968.  After many years as a homemaker she went to work at Sears Roebuck and Company.  She left Sears in 1979 when the family moved to Seabrook, Texas.  In 1984 she went to work for Macy’s and retired from Macy’s when she and Ed moved to Stephenville, Texas in 1997.  Not being the type to stay at home, she went to work at Wal-Mart in 1997.  Anita was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church Stephenville. She was a member of the choir and treasurer for the Presbyterian Women’s Group. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii and Europe.  She learned to love bowling from her father and passed this passion on to her sons as they bowled in a league together.  She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved telling bedtime stories and reading to her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and loved growing Red Roses and African Violets.  She was truly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Edwin H.  Cisler of Stephenville, TX; two daughters, Carol Olson of Clear Lake, TX and Diane Taeuber and husband, Ralph of Stephenville, TX; two sons, Ed Cisler of Austin, TX and Jim Cisler of Dallas, TX; her sister Pat Hopewell of The Village, FL; a cousin Lila Re of Chicago Il; five grandchildren, Dawn Cisler, Theresa and Andre Taeuber, Jeremy and Nicole Olson; six great grandchildren; and special friend, MiMi Corta .
