DE LEON - Mary Beth Morgan, 60, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in Houston with her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with lymphoma and other ailments.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of De Leon under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the First United Methodist Church.
Beth was born on June 27, 1947, in Oklahoma City to Harry and Ella Bledsoe. She was married to James on Nov. 17, 1979, in Washington, D.C. She was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and worked for Speaker Carl Albert and later for Majority Leader Jim Wright while she lived in Washington, D.C. She was a speech therapist and worked for the De Leon school system. She also worked as Administrative Assistant at the De Leon Hospital. She was named Woman of the Year by the De Leon Chamber of Commerce for her many civic actives.
Beth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in De Leon and taught children's Sunday school classes and headed up Vacation Bible School for many years. She loved the Breath of Life praise service there and was always in attendance when health did not prevent it.
Her proudest accomplishment was being the mother of Robby and Clint. She was always involved in their school activities. She loved being part of their lives and being a friend to their friends.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include husband, James of De Leon, sons, Robby of Austin and Clint of Dallas, brother, Ron Bledsoe of Lexington, Okla., many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a host of friends.
Beth was a long time supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Cancer Walk. Her survivors will appreciate memorials to that organization or the church.
