STEPHENVILLE - Sue Starnes Greek lost her long battle with Alzheimer's on July 16, 2019.

Sue was born to Henry and Faydra Starnes in Houston and spent most of her childhood in Corpus Christi.

She left home to attend David Lipsomb College in Nashville later transferring to Abilene Christian College (now ACU) graduating in 1952.

She then moved to College Station to marry the love of her life, James Greek, and taught school in Bryan for two years while he finished school at Texas A&M University.

His career took this adventurous couple to Dallas, Minneapolis, St. Louis, back to Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City, New Jersey, Iran, and finally back to New Jersey before settling in Lago Vista, Texas after James retired.

Sue and James were happily married for 62 years and together raised three children Sherilyn, Stephen and Jamie.

Sue made friends easily and became involved in each community through church fellowship and Bible studies, friendships with neighbors, participation and leadership in her children's school, scouting and social activities, and outreach to those in need. She taught piano for many years and had a gifted singing voice.

In addition to music, Sue had a passion for art, sewing and quilting. She loved museums and travel (a wonderful combination - she took her children to art, history, and science museums in every city they visited).

Second only to her love for her children and grandchildren, Sue's greatest passion was her desire to be like Jesus and she demonstrated that in the way she lived her life. She was kind, gracious, generous, loving and giving.

She was content with less so that she could share more. Her friends and family will remember her for her generosity, patience and great sense of humor.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband James and grandson Evan Bacon.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses Sherilyn and Doug Svien, Stephen and Claudia Greek, and Jamie and Terry Bacon; six grandchildren and their spouses Lee and Eva Bacon, Amy and Stephen Snell, Erin and Dennis Sissell, Lauren and Travis Trull, Kimberly and TJ Boyd, and Caitlyn and John Moore; as well as eight great grandchildren.

Sue is also survived by three sisters-in-law Doris Greek, Barbara Starnes, and Linda Fowler and Linda's husband Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Meals on Wheels of Erath County, 310 W. Lingleville Rd, Ste 101, Stephenville, TX  76401.
