STEPHENVILLE - Lorraine Saunders, 89, passed away peacefully, on January 19th, at home in Stephenville, after a brief illness.
Until just weeks before her passing she was joyfully cooking, listening to music, going to Cracker Barrel, The Peacock, working in her garden and keeping a keen eye on political news and the markets.
Lorraine grew up in Trout Creek Michigan. Her father, Laurie, was a foreman in the lumber mill. Her mother, Esther, ran their small farm and cooked the world's best pasty and cinnamon rolls.
Although an only child, Lorraine had many playmates nearby. The daughter of two Finns, she learned Finnish from a handyman that helped out on the farm.
Lorraine and her husband, Albert Lee Saunders, lived in Green Bay where their three children, Amy, Bary, and Kyle were born.
The family later moved to Saint Louis, then Columbia MO, then Manitowoc WI before Lee and Lorraine retired in Stephenville.
In their retirement years, Lee and Lorraine traveled extensively in their motorhome. They made many great friends in those years.
Lee passed away in 2012. Lorraine leaves behind their three children, four grandkids, Lindsay, Ben, Andrea and Audrey, and one great-grandson, Arlo.
Later this year, Lorraine's ashes will be spread on the family land in Trout Creek where her husband's ashes lie as well.
