STEPHENVILLE – Graveside services for Charles (Chuck) Lewis Truby, 89, were held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville.
Charles (Chuck) Lewis Truby was born October 31, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to George and Bertha Truby. He joined brother George, sister Jan, and step-sisters Harriet and Marian. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending Pittsburgh Pirate baseball games as a child. Chuck graduated New Castle High School in January 1946, attended Grove City College; and graduated with an engineering degree in June 1949. After graduation, Chuck went to work as a pipeline surveyor. He met Ann Browning in Bowling Green, KY. They dated and eloped in December 1952. Chuck had a career in the gas pipeline industry that spanned over 40 years. He worked for Tennessee Gas (Nashville, TN), Gulf Interstate, (Lafayette, LA), Transwestern Pipeline (Kermit and Odessa, TX) and Enron (Houston, TX). Chuck retired in 1993 from Enron as VP of Florida Gas Pipeline and purchased 140 acres in Stephenville, Texas, where he and Ann named their homestead the “CA Ranch”. He always counted his many blessings—his good health, career and loving family.
Chuck spent his retirement enjoying his dogs, family get-togethers, playing bridge (achieving level of Life Master), cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, involvement in his Sunday school class and church (First United Methodist of Stephenville), supporting charities and traveling (both domestic and abroad). Chuck was a loving husband and father, doting grandfather/great-grandfather and kind to all who met him. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother (died during service in WWII) and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann of the home. He is also survived by his children, Jackie (and Lew) York of Lufkin, TX, Terry (and Lee) Hall of Dumas, TX, Mike (and Donna) Truby of San Antonio, TX, Brian (and Ellen) Truby of Keller, TX and step-daughter Patty Lewis of Litchfield, KY. He has ten grandchildren: Felicia Tate, Ruth Anna Schulz, Deborah Edwards, Susan Marvin, Jason Truby, Kristen Espino, Ryan Truby, Matthew Truby, Jessica Stohner and Bradlee Hall. He also has ten great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations in memory of Chuck can be made to the Erath County Humane Society.
