STEPHENVILLE – Services for Addie Zell Edwards, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at Graham Street Church of Christ with Martin Smith officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Addie Zell Edwards was born in Erath County to Jessie Lee and Frances Rebecca Deason Bills. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1937, and attended John Tarleton Agricultural College and Howard Payne College.
Addie Zell married Dewey Eugene Edwards on Jan. 30, 1944 in Stephenville. They lived in Bryan and College Station, and after WWII lived in Lohn, Texas from 1948—1950 before moving to Walnut Springs where Addie Zell was the Walnut Springs ISD school secretary and bookkeeper for 15 years before her retirement in 1979.
She and Eugene retired to the family farm in Stephenville in 1979 where Addie Zell enjoyed many years of being a housewife. She was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ.
She leaves behind four children, Cynthia Price of Hillsboro; Donnie and wife Donna Edwards of Walnut Springs; Ricky Dale Edwards and wife Barbara Estment of Cresson; and Dean and Cindy Edwards of Stephenville. In addition, she leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Addie Zell was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Eugene Edwards on Feb. 25, 2009; and two sisters; and two brothers.
