DUBLIN—Services for Seth Lamar Turner, 89, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, in the Harrell Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Dublin Liveoak Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Seth was born in Coryell County and attended Gatesville High School. Seth along with his parents, Bessie Melvina (Thompson)Turner and Charles Edgar Turner were involved in raising Shorthorn cattle.
In 1949, Seth exhibited the Grand Champion steer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Seth served in the military and in Korea from 1950 to 1953. He moved to Dublin in 1954 and purchased the Central Inn Motel, where he operated it for 63 years. As owner of the Central Inn, he helped and served many people. He did this quietly and compassionately.
He married Virginia Ruth (Crouch) on Dec. 23, 1956. She preceded him in death in February 2009.
Seth was a member of the Dublin Rotary Club, the Lions Club and Dublin Chamber of Commerce. He attended The Cowboy Church of Erath County in Stephenville.
He is survived by his son, Charles Turner and his wife JoEllyn Turner of Dublin; his granddaughter, Audrey Cook and her husband Mason Cook of Pleasanton; and many other friends and family that loved him very much.
