Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Suchon Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Garden of Valor at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Sheboygan. Kevin was born in Stephenville to William Jr. and Debra (Baker) Higgins.

Kevin served in the United States Army as a decorated soldier of the 1st Cavalry Infantry in Bosnia. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for six years.

Following his service, he was a disabled veteran and suffered from PTSD.  He was under the care of mental health professionals through the VA.

Kevin was an active member of the VFW Post 1230 in Sheboygan.  He was currently serving as the Jr. Vice Commander and was next in line to become Post Commander.  He spent countless hours volunteering his time and helping other disabled veterans who were returning from service.

On Dec. 11, 2015, he married his soulmate, Nicole Papenfuss.

He loved fishing, golfing, hunting, camping and his motorcycle.  He always loved being outdoors and had a special bond with all animals.

Kevin was truly an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was always willing to help and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  He lived by the motto, “Protect and Serve.”

Survivors include, Nicole of Glenbeulah; son, Kevin Jr.; his mother, Crystal; three daughters, Julia, Gabriela, and Sophia; parents, William Jr. and Debra Higgins of Floresville, Texas; father and mother-in-law, Keith and June Papenfuss; brother, William III (Yvonne) of Floresville; and sister-in-law, Jessie Papenfuss (Fiancé: Cody Garn) of Sheboygan Falls.
