An Erath County teen was arrested after allegedly stealing a black Chevrolet pickup from Bull Nettle Sports Bar & Grill shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

A short time after the victim reported that his vehicle had been stolen, an Erath County sheriff's deputy pulled over the suspect, Early Wayne Bailey, 17, during a routine traffic stop. Bailey allegedly gave the deputy a false name. A short time later, the deputy realized the vehicle had been stolen.

Bailey was arrested and charged with failure to identify and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

He is being held in the Erath County Jail on a $2,500 bond and faces additional charges.

During an interview, Bailey allegedly confessed to stealing two other vehicles on Aug. 21 - a 2010 Chevrolet pickup from the 1200 block of Elk Drive and a 1994 Chevrolet pickup from the 1300 Block of Alexander Road. The 2010 Chevrolet pickup was found burning in the 700 block of W. Sloan.

"Bailey told the investigator that he did not intentionally burn the pickup," Lt. Doug McClammy said.

In all three cases, the vehicles were not locked and the keys were left inside.
