A one-vehicle rollover on Farm to Market 1188, one mile east of Morgan Mill, Wednesday evening claimed the life of James McCleskey, 28, of Lipan.

Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Clint Cole cited speed as a contributing factor in the accident.

The accident occurred as McCleskey was traveling eastbound on FM 1188 when his Chevy Blazer veered off the road just before the intersection of FM 1188 and County road 133, swerving and then overturning, Cole said. The blazer landed upside down next to a fence.

McCleskey was the only occupant inside the vehicle. Morgan Mill Volunteer Fire Department and Erath County Sheriff's officials responded to the scene. McCleskey was transported by ambulance to the intersection of Hwy 281 and FM 1188, then transported by CareFlight to John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, where he was later pronounced dead.

An official with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office said a toxicology report is pending.
