As rainy weather continues to hang around the area this week, city officials are trying to decide what to do about Wednesday’s July Fourth celebrations.
Forecasters predict the holiday will be met with a 50 percent chance of showers.
Drew Wells, director of community services for Stephenville, said the only event that has so far been cancelled is the performance by Marty Stuart, which will be rescheduled for sometime in August. City officials, however, said they could make additional last minute changes to the schedule of events depending on the weather.
“The day’s entertainment and fireworks show are still scheduled for now but we are watching the weather very closely and might be forced to make some adjustments,” Wells said.
The slate of entertainment is scheduled to begin with a 9:30 a.m. parade winding down Washington Street followed by lawnmower races at 2 p.m. and a car show from 3-7 p.m. at City Park.
For evening entertainment, the Cody Gil Band is scheduled to perform at the Birdsong Amphitheater at 5:30 p.m. followed by Davin James. The fireworks show will get under way at 10 p.m.
