The Stephenville Independent School District has been blessed with generous donations recently and the Board of Trustees recognized the contributors during Monday night's meeting.

Drs. Bill and Nanette Evans have donated $30,000 to Chamberlin Elementary School for the purchase of SMART Boards. Chamberlin also received a $10,000 anonymous donation. And, Embarq donated $50,000 for a technology lab at Hook Elementary School. Town and Country Bank is donating $15,200 for an electronic marquee for Henderson Junior High School.

We're appreciative of these gracious and generous gifts, Dr. Darrell Floyd superintendent said.

Floyd said Texas Bank President Joe Thompson is heading up efforts and soliciting sponsors for an electronic marquee for the high school campus.

In other business, the board heard a report on delinquent tax collections from attorney Jeff Brown. Floyd said a total of $493,710 was collected on behalf of SISD.

It was reported that the tax collection rate was 98 percent.

A lot of communities would love to have that tax collection rate, Floyd said. And we're appreciative of our taxpayers.

The contract for the concession/restroom/ticket booth facility at Lem Brock Field was awarded to Marchelle Lee in the amount of $216,000, which Floyd said was under the budgeted amount of $275,000.

Neal Guthrie was appointed to the Erath County Appraisal District Board of Directors and Marshall Shelton was appointed to the Appraisal Review Board.

Roy Dove's resignation was approved in closed session with an official resignation date of June 30, 2008.

The board also:
