Special to the E-T GERMANY - Former Tarleton men's basketball standout LaShon Sheffield is moving up in the world of basketball. Sheffield has signed with the TSV Nordlingen Giants of the Germany.
Sheffield, who played last year in Ireland for the UCC Demons of Cork, Ireland, just completed his first season as a professional basketball player after leading the Texans to back-to-back South Central Regional Championships and NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances.
“I know I am going to have to work harder than ever before playing in Germany,” Sheffield said. “My ultimate goal is always to win and be successful. I also want to take advantage of this opportunity and learn as much as I can from my new coaching staff, as well as my new veteran teammates about the professional game.”
Last season, the Memphis, Tenn. native averaged 25.4 points per game, shooting 77 percent form the free throw line, 47.6 percent from the three-point arc and 50.5 percent from the field. He helped his team to the Irish National Cup finals, and the team was also the Irish League South Conference runner-up, and reached the Irish Superleague Semifinals.
However, this league will be more of a challenge.
