The Erath County Volunteer Fire and Rescue (ECVFR) Auxiliary is hosting their second annual hamburger supper and bake auction tonight at the fire station on East Road (near Hard 8) from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dinners are available as dine-in or pick-up.
Tickets are only $5 each and include a hamburger, chips and a drink. If you’re hungry for dessert, a baked goods auction will start at 6 p.m. with new items auctioned off every 30 minutes.
Children will also receive a Junior Firefighter memento with their dinner. And if the kids aren’t worn out with excitement, a bounce house will be also available.
Emily Howle, an auxiliary member, said the group officially organized in 2006 and has been helping area fire departments and victims ever since.
“We provide all the food and drinks for the guys when they are out on a fire,” Howle said. “Also, we help fire victims. We make sure to give them a gift card to Wal-Mart or other places for things they need.”
Howle also said the auxiliary group provides teddy bears to small children involved in vehicle accidents.
“Our purpose is to foster goodwill between the fire department and the community,” Howle added. “We help any fire stations in the county that need us.”
The proceeds raised at tonight’s fundraiser will help fund future efforts.
