Pins and needles.

Thatís how one public official described feeling while waiting to see if the Erath County Appraisal Districtís board of directors renews Chief Appraiser Jerry Leeís contract.

The decision is expected today, when the board meets at 8 a.m. to discuss Leeís fate.

City, county and area school officials are expected to attend the meeting, many of them saying they will be there to support Lee and to answer any questions the board may have about his performance. Lee has been the countyís chief appraiser for more than 20 years.

The board is comprised of five members, each representing the different taxing entities within the county. Jennifer Carey represents Erath County, Bill Bailey represents the City of Stephenville, Neal Guthrie represents Stephenville ISD, Katherine Prater represents the City of Dublin and Dublin ISD, and Dr. Dannah Procter represents outlying school districts.

Many believe it is likely that three of the five board members will vote not to renew the contract, which expires Dec. 31.

The meeting is open to the public and will take place in the boardroom of the Erath County Appraisal District, located at 1390 Harbin Drive.
