E-T Staff Report

On Friday, April 9, the Dublin Livestock auction barn will host the first of the 2010 Round-Up for Rehab special auctions and events benefiting the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.  The Round-Up program represents a long-standing tradition of Neighbor-Helping Neighbor from the agricultural and local communities.

Heading up the 2010 Dublin area Round-Up special sale are Dale and Marla McKinney with the help of Anthony Brinson.  Others with key roles in this year’s program are general chairmen Mike Alexander and Randy Carson of Abilene, Jody Frey of San Angelo and Bob Helmers of Christoval.  World-renowned cowboy musician and poet, Red Steagall continues to support the Rehab Center as Round-Up Honorary Chairman.  They all join with other volunteers in asking for help so the Rehab can meet the needs of all who turn to the Center for assistance in overcoming the disabling effects of an illness or injury.

Ranchers and supporters can help by donating livestock, merchandise or other auction items to the sale, attending the sale and bidding or making a cash donation.

The Dublin sale is one of 11 special Round-Up for Rehab auctions and promises to provide a fun experience.

Beginning at noon, the Rehab’s own chuckwagon will offer a meal of beans, cornbread and cobbler. The auction will kick off at 1 p.m. with items of interest for all. Livestock, ag-related and general merchandise, crafts and baked goods will be offered with a round of lively, friendly bidding.  Special items this year include a unique queen/king sized wild horse theme quilt - “Running Free.” The quilt, donated by Mary’s Quilting and Originals, includes a set of pillow cases and a metal display rack.
