E-T Staff Report
The Stephenville High School Band has been busy with contests.
Recently the band placed sixth in the US Scholastic Band Association Marching contest in Burleson and seventh in finals competition at the Paluxy Valley Marching Festival in Glen Rose.
Director Mike Childs said the contest in Glen Rose was new for his group.
“This was a long day for us with two full performances of a very demanding show,” Childs said, referring to the Glen Rose competition. “The entire band staff is very proud of the band for making finals and for the progress they’ve shown in the last week to prepare. This is our second warm-up contest to get us ready for the Region 7 UIL marching contest in Burleson.”
That contest will take place on Oct. 20, and Childs said compared to the athletic season, “This is the entire season in one performance.” Childs said if students do well they will advance to the “playoffs,” or the Area B Marching contest to be held in Carrollton, Oct. 27.
“This is a great bunch of musicians and it’s a pleasure for the staff to get to stand in front of them every day and work together,” Childs said.
