A welfare concern turned into a drug bust Monday afternoon on North Ollie Street.
Lieutenant Frank Gaitan with the Stephenville Police Department said concerned family members called authorities because they had not heard from Michael Odea, 47, in several months.
When officers arrived at the residence, Kimberly Odea, 67, told officers that her husband, Michael, was not at home, then gave officers permission to enter the house.
Officers found Michael inside the home, as well as what appeared to be marijuana seeds on the coffee table, Gaitan said.
The couple was detained outside their home until a search warrant could be obtained and the canine unit brought to the scene. The dogs alerted on several items scattered throughout the house, Gaitan said.
While searching the perimeter of the grounds, Gaitan found a surveillance camera hidden inside a birdhouse.
Gaitan said both individuals were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance under one gram.
Gaitan said Michael Odea had a warrant out for a probation violation in Wisconsin and will be extradited to that state.
At press time, bond had not been set for the couple.
