E-T Staff Report

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend the Cross Timbers Home & Garden Show on Saturday and Sunday at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville.

“We’re looking forward to another successful home and garden show. We have many local businesses that will be spotlighted during our annual event, as well as a few new faces from Stephenville and the surrounding areas. We are looking to add a few new seminars that will attract visitors as well,” said Treva Thompson, event director.

Join the hundreds of people who are planning to attend the many product demonstrations as well as signing up for the array of door prizes and giveaways offered by the large variety of exhibitors.

New features have been added to this year’s show along with old favorites like Chef Gerard Thompson of the world famous Rough Creek Lodge.

“We are excited to have the chef back again this year. He is definitely a crowd pleaser. This will be the chef’s seventh straight year to present a cooking demonstration,” Thompson said.

The renowned chef will present cooking demonstrations Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

“I really like taking part in the Stephenville show. The people are great to work with and the turnout has always been phenomenal,” Chef Gerard said.

Also featured again this year will be “Party in the Yard” with Chef Gerard. Be sure and go to the show and sign up to win this opportunity to have the chef come to your own backyard and cook for you and your friends.

“‘Party in the Yard’ was great fun with the Chef. He was a wonderful host and even shared some of his cooking secrets with us. Chef Gerard prepared a delicious meal for us and even ate with us. It was a wonderful experience. I will definitely be signing up again to win this year,” said Cindy Stafford, past party winner.

The chamber will also offer informative and helpful free seminars to show patrons. Carey Fraser, with Fraser Agency Inc., will offer information on estate planning, insurance and real estate with help from some expert colleagues. Molly Kinsey with Town & Country Mortgage will be covering New Home Buyer Loans and giving tips and information on mortgage loans. Find helpful do-it yourself tips on furniture restoration presented by Paul Ganther, Pastor of First Christian Church. The guys at the Stephenville Fireplace Shop will be on hand again to discuss solar energy and heating options.

For the “go green” fans, you won’t want to miss Classic Floors & Interiors presentation by Jeana Brown on re-purposed and recycled decorating ideas.

The Stephenville Christian School will once again sponsor the coloring contest for grades 1-4. There are always many participants in the contest, which has one winner per grade. Coloring contest coloring pages will be sent home with children from their schools. Winners will be judged and announced on Saturday and prizes will be awarded.

The show poses the perfect opportunity for homeowners to get a great start on spring projects by meeting with various providers of home and garden products and services all in one location. There will be information about remodeling, kitchens, baths, building supplies, lawn and garden care, pools, spas, decorating and much more.

Admission to the show is $4. Show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Discount coupons are available at area restaurants and businesses, Wal-Mart, and the chamber office.
