Good music, good food and good friends are expected to converge on Hico Saturday for the 4th Annual Texas Steak Cook Off, Beef Symposium and Tourist Trap.

Activities begin at noon and more than 5,000 people are expected to attend.

Local chefs will be competing for cash and prizes as well as professional chefs to see who can cook up the best steak.

Tickets for dinner are $25 and include a 12-ounce rib-eye steak, baked potato and all the trimmings. Steaks will be distributed to ticket holders at 5 p.m., and then the ticket holder can choose the local chef they would like to prepare the steak. Dinner will be served from 5:30-7 p.m. and cook off winners will be announced at 7 p.m.

Tickets also serve as a chance to win two new John Deere Gators.

A wine and chocolate tasting sponsored by the Hico Chamber of Commerce is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $12.50. The tasting will feature Texas wines and handmade chocolates.

Entertainment will kick off at noon with The James Black Band. Tommy Alverson will play from 2-4 p.m. with Ronica Coldiron following from 4-7 p.m. The featured entertainment is Jon Christopher Davis performing from 7-10 p.m.

All proceeds go to charity.
