Okay…so you think you can cook like Rachel Ray? Paula Deen? Bobby Flay? Or maybe you think you can cook better than Essence of Emeril. Well, now is the time to show off your kitchen skills!
Our sister publication, the Trading Post, is teaming up with the Empire-Tribune to host the first ever cookoff for the upcoming holiday season. The Trading Post has been publishing a recipe cookbook for quite some time and in the past, readers have sent in their favorite recipes. The Trading Post picked the the recipes they liked best and published them in a cookbook, with winners chosen from each category.
But now, we’re “Kicking it up a notch,” as Emeril would say, and we have asked Chef Curren Dodds of Bluff Dale’s Let’s Eat, to choose three recipes from each category. We will then contact the winners and ask them to bring their dish in for a taste off on Monday, Nov. 5, with some of our local community leaders acting as judges.
Food Network has nothing on us. We like to give prizes away to those who can whip up tasty dishes. The top winner’s from each category will win a $25 gift card and the Grand Prize winner will win a new appliance from Gifford TV & Appliance. The winners will be featured along with their winning recipes and all other recipe submissions on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Trading Post and the Empire Tribune.
So grab those chef hats, and tie on the apron. We want to hear from you! Deadline for recipes is Friday, Oct. 26. Look for details in today’s paper.
