Thanksgiving was celebrated one day late for the Wright family but just in time for Don Wright’s return home to Bluff Dale Friday afternoon.

After weeks in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the face, a family spokesperson said Wright was “in good spirits and ready to get home.”

The family celebrated with deep fried turkey.

The spokesperson said Wright is “weak and tired,” and is permanently blind in his right eye. Wright faces months of recuperation, and long-term effects of the injury remain to be seen.

A shooter has still not been charged. The Erath County Sheriff’s Department has turned the case over to the district attorney and will be presented to the grand jury.

Wright is originally from Brownwood but has made his home in the Stephenville area for many years. He was shot during an altercation involving several people at a residnce in Bluff Dale.
