Stephenville police say they have no new leads in a case involving a Tarleton State University student who fended off a possible attack early Monday morning.

The female student was at her apartment building, located at 1585 W. Frey Street, when an unknown male approached her in the parking lot about 4:30 a.m.

She had apparently gone outside to retrieve something from her backpack, according to Lt. Doug McClammy.

"When she turned around she was face-to-face with the man and she screamed," McClammy said.

The suspect then attempted to cover her mouth, but the woman was able to get away and flee to her residence, where she called police.

"It happened very fast and the victim did not get a good look at the suspect," McClammy said.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and a dark colored baseball cap. He was possibly driving a white crew cab pickup.

"At this point, there are no new leads or suspects," McClammy said Wednesday.

Anyone with information should call Stephenville police at 918-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 965-CASH.
