I read Mr. Vernon Sneed’s Thursday letter to the editor and could not believe the amount of ignorance and irresponsible logic contained therein; Apparently Mr. Sneed is one of those ‘late generation’ right-wingers who are older than sin… and therefore believes he is an expert on it.

W-R-O-N-G! Mr. Sneed belittles those who express their constitutional right to speak out saying nobody would do that in WWII. Well the Iraq War is not WWII, sir! So-called President Bush and his junta lied to the American people about the reasons for entering that war…there never was any WMD’s or Al Queda links! The Iraq War is an un-Christian war that has cost our country half a trillion dollars! It’s a modern-day Vietnam civil war full of sectarian strife with no end in sight!

Mr. Sneed laments that his brothers went to WWII to fight for our freedom! I commend them! They were fighting against Fascist regimes which demanded blind loyalty to the state no matter what…hmmm, that seems very similar to what Mr. Sneed was preaching in his letter that no one should criticize the government. Not only that, but much of the carryings-on of the Republican Party concerning their election style, manipulation of the media, lying to its constituents, flagrant corruption, and shameful misuse of patriotism and religion do smack of Nazi fascism!

General Petraeus lied to Congress about the effects of the “troop surge” in Iraq…that’s all there is to it! Here’s some true points to remember:

1. For our troops, it’s the bloodiest summer yet!

2. The independent GAO report found that violence is up. They found that the “average number of daily attacks against civilians have remained unchanged from February to July 2007.” In August, things got worse, with civilian casualties rising according to the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times.

3. Iraqis believe the surge has failed. According to a massive new ABC/BBC poll, every single Iraqi polled in Baghdad, the primary target of the surge, said it had made security worse. Iraqis themselves overwhelmingly think the situation in Iraq is deteriorating, in terms of security, political, cooperation, the economy, and other measures.

4. Petraeus used “funny math.” According to the Washington Post, Petraeus and the Pentagon are using a bizarre formula for measuring violence in the country. For example, deaths by car bombs don’t count. And assassinations count only if you’re shot in the back of the head…not in the front. Socrates said: “There is one good…KNOWLEDGE, and one evil…IGNORANCE.”

Mr. Sneed, that puts you on the side of Satan! Blessed are the peacemakers!
