E-T Staff Report

History unfolded at the Stephenville Masonic Lodge #267 Saturday night.

Three Masons were honored for their long years of service to the local lodge. A combined total of 170 years of continuous membership was recognized for these three members. Each was awarded a pin for their long and dedicated memberships.

Two members received 60-year pins. These pins went to Hugh Wolfe, 95, semi-retired Stephenville businessman; and Charles Riggins, 84, retired Stephenville banker. The 50-year pin was given to John Dendy, 77, retired Texas Ranger.

This may have been a first for the local lodge — honoring three individuals at the same time with this many years of service in Masonry.

Wolfe became a member of the local lodge in February, 1947, while Riggins’ membership dates back to June, 1947. Dendy began his membership in 1957.

Each recipient briefly addressed the members and guests, expressing appreciation to the lodge for the recognition, and praising the lodge for sponsoring many worthwhile projects in the Cross Timbers area.

A covered-dish dinner preceded the awards ceremony.
