Stephenville High School is introducing a new web-based service designed especially for parents and students.

“I first learned about Naviance Family Connection last summer at a Texas Association for College Admission Counseling Conference. Most of the schools using this web-based service are private schools that require their students to pursue higher education at some of the elite universities in the nation, Kristi Adams, counselor, said. “The SHS Counseling Department decided to invest in our students' futures by furnishing a Web site that would allow more communication and information than we have ever been able to provide.

Adams said the new program is used for help in making decisions regarding courses, colleges, and careers. She said the program is linked with the counselor's office, a service used professionally in Adams' office to track and analyze data about future career and college plans.

“It provides up-to-date information that's specific to our school, Adams said.

The service can be used to:

Request transcripts or letters of recommendation

Create a resume

Research colleges

Track scholarship information

View current grade point average, class ranking, and test scores.

Adams said her office will also use the service for communicating information on upcoming meetings, events, and other opportunities that may be of interest to students and parents.

To access the Web site go to http://connection.naviance.com/stephenville.

“We hope that students and parents use Naviance Family Connection as an ongoing college and scholarship resource, Adams said.
