The long-anticipated Stephenville fireworks show will take place from 7-11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at the Stephenville City Park.
Due to the coronavirus, Stephenville’s annual Fourth of July celebration was canceled, with the city moving the fireworks display to Labor Day weekend.
The Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Show will be celebrated tailgate style.
Tailgate spots will be marked off in the city park so families are able to social distance.
"We have a map on the event and it’s posted where there’s seating and parking. You can stay at your vehicle and tailgate or you can take lawn chairs into the park and just hang out with your family and your group, as long as you’re six feet apart from another group of people," said Stephenville Parks and Recreation Coordinator Kat Lindley.
Fireworks will immediately follow the Stephenville ISD football game. Community members can watch the fireworks display from the stadium or city park.
"We will open up the park around 7," Lindley said. "People can come in as they please and just hang out."
She said she is excited for the Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Show because the community can finally be back together.
