Children can now write a letter to their favorite book character through the program provided by the Stephenville Public Library.

Children can write a letter (or have their parent write a letter) to their favorite book character, take a photo of a letter and email it to

Employees of the library will respond back to the child via letter as their favorite character.

“Since the shelter in place order, we have been searching the internet for fun and creative activities to help our patrons pass the time,” said Mary Meredith, library manager. “I came across this idea from the Keller Public Library, and after changing the details to fit our community, posted about it on our website.”

Parents are asked to include their child’s age, name and return address.

For individuals who do not have access to email, they can put the letter in the library’s book drop.

“I’m super excited about the responses we have gotten so far, and I hope to receive lots of letters,” Meredith said. “It’s a great way to have fun while practicing important literacy skills.”
